Scheduling text messages lets you write messages now and send them at a specific date and time. This is useful for deadline reminders, event notifications, or off-hours communication when you want messages to arrive at optimal times.
Scheduled messages sit in a queue until their send time. You can edit or cancel them before they send, giving you flexibility to adjust messaging as situations change.
Compose a new message or reply
Navigate to the SMS screen and compose a new message or open an existing conversation to write a reply. Type your message in the message field.
Click Schedule instead of Send
Instead of clicking Send, click the Schedule option. A scheduling modal will open.
Select the date and time
Select the date and time you want the message to send. The scheduling interface lets you choose both the specific date and time of day.
Confirm the schedule
Click Confirm Schedule. The message moves to your scheduled queue instead of sending immediately.
At the scheduled time, the message sends automatically to the student.
When to schedule messages: Schedule reminder messages the evening before a deadline so they arrive when students wake up. Schedule move-in instructions for early morning on move-in day. Schedule follow-up messages during business hours even if youʼre writing them late at night.
View scheduled messages
Open the SMS screen and click Scheduled Messages in the navigation. The scheduled queue displays all messages waiting to send.
Each scheduled message shows its send time, recipient, and a preview of the message content. Messages are ordered by send time with the next messages to send at the top.
Edit a scheduled message
Open the scheduled messages queue and click on the message you want to edit. Make your changes to the message content or scheduled time.
Click Save. The updated message remains in the queue and will send at the new scheduled time with the updated content.
Cancel a scheduled message
Open the scheduled messages queue and click on the message you want to cancel. Click Cancel Send.
Confirm the cancellation. The message is removed from the queue and will not send.
Note: Cancelled messages cannot be recovered. If you want to send the message later, youʼll need to create it again.
Important — Messages cannot be recalled after sending
Once a scheduled message sends to a studentʼs phone, there is no way to unsend it. Always review scheduled messages before their send time if you need to make changes.
Check your scheduled queue a few minutes before messages are set to go out, especially for time-sensitive or urgent communications.
